Lynn Swanson


Lynn is a dancer and dance educator as well as a writer. She holds a BFA in dance from the University of Michigan and a MA in English/​Creative Writing from Michigan State University. She is published and has won prizes in both poetry and fiction. Her poem "Quilt" won a high place in the Robert Penn Warren contest judged by John Ashbery. Lynn taught undergraduate creative writing classes at Michigan State University and more recently has taught poetry, play writing and short fiction to graduate students at the Tai Sophia Institute in Laurel, Maryland. Her first middle reader novel, Summer Dance, won a Silver Medal in the Moonbeam Children's Book Awards. Her young reader picture book, Caraboose the Tooth Fairy Moose, has been endorsed and distributed widely by the Delta Dental Foundation. Her most recent book, the sequel to Summer Dance, entitled Welcome Back to Lakewood, is being highly praised by book sellers and readers. Lynn is a member of the Children's Society of Book Writers and Illustrators as well as a member of the Authors Guild.
